Adelaide has many beaches on offer, some of which are only minutes drive from the city centre. Aldinga Beach
Located at the lovely seaside resort of Aldinga, in the Glenelg suburban area of Adelaide, is Aldinga beach. This is a beautifully scenic beach, offering great golden sand and calm waters, as well as very good beach facilities. This is a very popular beach in Adelaide since it is situated very close to the city centre, and is great for sunbathing, snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming, sailing and any other beach activity you can think of.
Myponga Beach
Myponga beach is a short drive from the city centre, and is one of the quieter beaches you’ll find. It’s more popular with the locals of Aldinga Bay as opposed to being a tourist hot spot, so head out there if you fancy quieter surroundings. The beach also features a number of secluded areas that often see high waves. This makes Myponga a great destination for surfers hoping to catch a big wave.
West Beach
West beach is located about 6 miles from Adelaide’s center, and is surrounded by vast areas of parkland. The beach is great for swimming, sailing and fishing, as well as all other beach activities. There is also a golf course situated nearby if you fancy a round in a scenic setting.
Brighton Beach
Not to be mistaken for the pebbly beach located on the south coast of England, Adelaide’s Brighton beach is another situated close to the city centre in the Glenelg suburb. This is a very relaxed beach, ideal for laid-back activities such as sunbathing and snorkeling, as well as off-shore fishing. There are also a decent selection of shops and restaurants nearby if you get peckish.
Henley Beach
Henley beach is another of Adelaide’s most popular beaches, and is again situated pretty close to the CBD, so is easily reached. Similar to the other beaches in the area, it is home to golden sands and clear, calm waters. Perfect for sunbathing and swimming, the area also includes a variety of gift shops and top quality eateries offering fantastic views of the coastline.
