Take a trip to the northwest of Argentina to experience a completely different part of the country, given that the validity of pre-Columbian settlements and the mark of the conquistadors is more evident here than anywhere else in the country. We flew to San Salvador de Jujuy in an attempt to explore the province for a couple of days and then follow the road south to Salta. Hired accommodation at the Hotel Spa Terms de Reyes and as we stayed three nights we got the shuttle from the airport to the hotel at no cost.

The driver of the hotel gave us a small city tour around the historical sites of San Salvador de Jujuy before taking them to the hotel. We shared so much valuable information as the location of the hotel’s history. The place is located the hotel is spectacular, perched on the side of the mountain that ends in a deep ravine where the river passes. Terms de Reyes’s name refers to the hot springs were considered sacred by the Incas, while his emperor led pilgrimages to bathe in these healing waters.

We learned that the resort was built originally as a Health Spa back in the 1940′s and Eva Peron became a children’s sanatorium where he occasionally went to teach. The current owner of the hotel is the son of one of the original employees, who was a driver, and grew up in this place. At this point, we realized that the driver was not an employee but the hotel owner himself, who made his fortune in the transportation industry and a good day when the government sold the hotel for a very low price, do not hesitate to buy it and renew it. His hobby is now away from his office from time to time and leads to its guests as a lowly driver, as her father.

Once arrived, we were greeted by hotel staff, all very friendly and helpful. They took us on a tour of the hotel while our luggage was brought into the room. It had a spectacular view of the creek and the bed was extremely comfortable (I am very fine with the beds because I have back problems). The bathroom has hot water directly from groundwater springs so do not drink, unlike the cold water if he was drinking. We quickly put the robes provided and we headed to the spa.
